09th Dec 2025

The greens were full at the Guyra Bowling Club for their annual Carnival which was held last week. Bowlers from across the region gathered for the competition, with players travelling from Glen Innes, Inverell, Tenterfield, Kew, Broadbeach, Mona Vale, Evans Head and Iluka. The atmosphere was friendly but competitive as players battled it out across multiple categories.
In Ladies’ competition, the standout trio of A. Carter, P. Wilson and S. Orvard claimed top honours for Glen Innes. They were closely followed by runners up A. Souter, G. Anderson and D. Ross representing Inverell Sporties.
The Mixed event saw strong representation, with a composite team representing Guyra/MonaVale C. Peardon, S. Starr and M. Afford taking the winners’ title. Runners up were D Williams, K Arandale and R Shannon from Glen Innes.
Pairs action offered plenty of drama as well. S. Clark and J. McIlwain a Guyra/Broadbeach combination, secured the win. The runners-up were P. Collins and G. Chorley from Kew and Tenterfield.
In the Triples, it was G. Martin, P. Wrice and P. White representing Kew/Evans Head/Iluka who rose to the top. Runners up were S. Campbell, A. Bull and I. Jacobs a Guyra/Kootingal composite side.
With plenty of friendly rivalry, old mates catching up, and new friendships formed on the green, the carnival proved once again why it’s a highlight on the local bowls calendar.
The fun continues with the Brian Vickery Ham Day coming up on Sunday 13th December. All bowlers are welcome, with box draw pairs and names to be in by 11:30am for a 12:30pm start.
